Chicago: Day Three

On Sunday morning after a good breakfast, we sailed out onto the Chicago River and enjoyed an architectural boat tour. Not the architecture of boats, but of buildings to clarify. There was much talk about the great fire of 1871 and how no one used to want to live on the river. I guess until recently people had really abused the river, dumped a bunch of stuff in it and it made the whole city smell bad. Chicago still smelled really bad, but the river looks great today! Many of the old warehouse buildings were being turned into apartments and condos, but I was really surprised by all of the empty buildings along this tour and all that we passed walking around. That being said, the city was still bustling with tourists!
